This book is basically an autobiography of a gay black woman living in America. (i know you couldn't guess that by the title!) It talks a lot about the women's movement and a lot about the civil rights movement and how even though they were both liberation movements for an oppressed people, they didn't really work together or even necesarily like the other movement.4/5.

The book follows the story of Renay, a black woman who leaves her abusive marriage to a black man to enter a relationship with a white lesbian named Terry. After Zami, I found other black lesbian books that white lesbian feminist presses had begun to publish in the ’80s: For Nights Like This One (), and later, Lover’s Choice, both by Becky.
